Soprano Margaret Newcomb has been hailed “a fine soprano” by the NY Times and “Excellent” by Opera News.
This spring, Margaret will be making her Fort Worth Opera debut, singing two roles in the festival’s Frontiers
showcase. This summer she will perform the role of Violetta in La Traviata with The dell’Arte Opera Ensemble
in New York City. Margaret recently appeared at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of artist Lee Mingwei’s
performance piece, Sonic Blossom. Before that she sang the role of Trassie in a new opera workshop of Sharon’s
Grave by Richard Wargo. For the past two summers, Margaret has been a young artist at Seagle Music Colony, where she performed Alice Ford in Falstaff, Elvira in L’Italiana in Algeri, and Fantine in Les Misérables.

 

Margaret’s past roles in New York City include Woglinde (Das Rheingold), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), the title role of L’incoronazione di Poppea, and the title role of Alcina. Past roles abroad include Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) in Weimar, Germany, Contessa di Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) in Naples, Italy and cover for Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) in Newfoundland, Canada. Margaret resides in New York City and attended the Manhattan School of Music Conservatory where she performed such roles as Alcina in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino, Lillian Russell in Virgil Thomson’s The Mother of Us All, and the title role of the U.S. premiere of Nina, o sia La pazza per amore.
